How do I scan a label?

Tap Scan, then take a photo of the printed ingredient list (not the front of the pack). Point at a flat, well-lit label. In a few seconds you'll get allergens, halal/vegan status, an A–F additive grade, and more.

How do I set my allergens?

Go to Settings → Allergens → Set your allergens and tap the ones you have. From then on, any scan that finds one of them shows a bold red warning at the very top — including "may contain" cross-contamination warnings.

What is the Sugar / GI alert?

An optional toggle in Settings → Health. When on, each scan flags high-GI and added-sugar ingredients (like high-fructose corn syrup and maltodextrin) — helpful if you manage diabetes or a low-carb diet.

Is it free? What are the limits?

Yes — scanning is free to start, no account needed. There is a monthly free-scan limit; an optional subscription or top-up removes it. You can try the app in your browser first, no sign-up required.

Which languages does it read?

Many, including Japanese, Chinese, Arabic and Malay — great for imported and foreign-language packaging.

How accurate is it? Is this medical advice?

PureDecode reads what's printed on the label to give you fast guidance. It is not medical advice and can make mistakes. It cannot detect an allergen that isn't listed on the label (for example, an undeclared-ingredient recall). Always double-check the label and consult a qualified professional about allergies or dietary needs.

Do you store my photos or personal data?

We don't require an account and never collect your name, email, or location. Your scan history and allergen profile stay on your device. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are billed by the App Store or Google Play — manage or cancel them in your device's subscription settings. On the web version, use the billing link in your purchase receipt.
